Our Austin Favs

We love taking advantage of city-life in Austin, including a few spots that help keep it weird. Here are a few of our fav spots:

  • 🌮 Casa Chapala – 9041 Research Blvd, Ste #100
Family-owned and some of the best Tex-Mex in town. They offer table-side guacamole and salsa, a wide variety of menu options and killer deals for Taco Tuesday.

  • 🍹 Fonda San Miguel – 2330 W N Loop Blvd
Austin’s most well-known high end Tex-Mex spot - plan weeks out if you want dinner here! The ingredients are all top-shelf and the margaritas are strong. A good location for special occasion meals.

  • 🎨 Thinkery – 1830 Simond Ave
Austin’s hands-on creative space for little people, our children’s museum, in Mueller community. It offers glass painting, water tables, outdoor playground, toddler-only spaces and more. We hosted 2 birthday parties here and had a membership for years!

  • 🤠 Bullock Texas State History Museum – 1800 N Congress Ave
Offers IMAX films, hands-on exhibits and a history of Texas from Native Americans through the Space Age. Excellent for a family day, especially with 4th and 7th grade students as these are their Texas history years in school. Walking distance to the State Capitol.

  • 🏞️ McKinney Falls State Park 5808 McKinney Falls Pkwy
Easy hiking, calm waters and overnight camping spots, within the city limits and less than 15 miles from the State Capitol.

  • Austin FC – 10414 Mc Kalla Pl
The city’s first pro sports team, Austinites are fanatical about FC. The season runs roughly March - September so slather on your sunscreen before you head to Q2 Stadium. Listos verde!
